5+ interesting Black Friday Apple HomeKit accessory deals
Look around the Black Friday sales this year, and you’ll find astonishing deals on HomeKit compatible products, with Elgato** offering 25 percent off its products and Amazon applying a range of deep discounts on HomeKit compatible devices in its store. Here is a small selection of these solutions, you can see the rest right here:
Let there be light
There’s a range of smart lighting kits available on Amazon right now. This deal on Philips Hue White Smart Bulb Starter Kit seems interesting, as you get four white bulbs and the bridge for just $59.99, rather than the $99 Amazon usually demands. There are a few other lights and lighting kits. There are a range of good discounts on these available to UK readers, also.

Smart sockets
Another deal I think might interest some readers: $10 off the iHome WiFi smart plug socket. Like any other HomeKit device, this lets you automate and control the socket itself with your voice. I like these devices as a way to turn perfectly normal lighting and audio equipment into smart kit, as you can then make your home behave as if you are at home, even when you’re not. This solution costs $39.99. In the UK? Then take a look at the £24 discount available on Belkin’s smart socket.

Of course, there’s a smart lock
The Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt will set you back $160, rather than the product’s $229 usual cost (though you may find it cheaper elsewhere). The lock promises to work with all platforms, but for HomeKit use you’ll need to link it up to your stay-at-home iPad or Apple TV to get the remote lock/unlock features you need. I see this as a good solution to lock up an indoor strong room. Not quite a HomeKit solution, but iOS-compatible, security-conscious UK readers may want to take a look at the big £180 discount on the Arlo Smart Home 3-piece camera kit, which features indoor/outdoor night/day cameras which can respond to movement.
Switch on your HomeKit
There seems to be a $90-dollar discount on a 10-piece collection of Leviton smart dimmer switches, which brings the price down to $359. (You can also pick these dimmers up individually at various prices). You can then create a slew of different lighting “scenes” in HomeKit, putting you in total control of the mood.
Set the temperature
Finally in this short round-up, some readers may want to think about this smart thermostat from ecoBee. This costs $199 rather than the $259 normal cost, according to Amazon. It has Alexa built in and also works quite happily with HomeKit. You’ll be able to control room temperature from wherever you are, which can be pretty useful if you’ve left the heating on (and didn’t want to).
** Elgato’s is a voucher deal. Only available November 24, you should be able to purchase up to three Eve products, but will need to type SAVE-BIG-2017 on checkout. This deal may not be available everywhere, I just don’t know.
