5 reasons you’ll want the new AirPods Pro (updated)
That October Apple event I’d hoped for?
It looks like it isn’t happening with Apple apparently introducing its new high-end in a shock press release — more details here…
Here are five reasons you’ll want them:
Because they’re more water resistant…
Everyone says the new AirPods are more water resistant – that’s a big deal because I can’t help but wonder how many AirPods have been broken by ingesting too much water, how many have fallen out of people’s ears during a sweaty workout, and how many people really want to keep listening to ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ while they go for a swim.
If you have an active lifestyle, walk in the rain occasionally, or even like to get sweaty to music, you’ll want the new AirPods.
Speaking of which…
Because they are a new design
Say goodbye to sticks and say hello to a much smaller AirPod Pro that delivers just as much sound, better quality and equally good battery life.
Because they’ll let you (not) bring the noise…
There’s nothing like settling down for a long flight or train journey, putting your relaxing music on, pulling out your trusty travel pillow and then remaining resolutely awake because the sound of the engines, other passengers and the cabin itself keep you awake..
That’s how it was with the existing AirPod range, but it won’t be what you get with the AirPods Pro, which are expected to offer active noise-cancelling technology.
This system uses two microphones combined with advanced software to continuously adapt to each individual ear and headphone fit. The system removes background noise to provide a customized noise-cancelling experience so you can filter out external sound.
Because some of us will find them more comfortable…
The new AirPods are expected to have rubber tips, which should make them more comfortable to wear with their new shape that’s easier to wear in the ear.
Each earbud comes with three different sizes of soft, flexible silicone ear tips for a better fit and seal. To maximize comfort, AirPods Pro use a vent system to equalize pressure, minimizing discomfort.
“The Ear Tip Fit Test helps ensure users get the best audio experience from AirPods Pro by testing the quality of the seal and identifying the best ear tip size for them. After placing AirPods Pro in each ear, advanced algorithms work together with the microphones in each AirPod to measure the sound level in the ear and compare it to what is coming from the speaker driver. In just seconds, the algorithm detects whether the ear tip is the right size and has a good fit, or should be adjusted to create a better seal.”
Because they sound better
The Adaptive EQ system tunes the low- and mid-frequencies of the music to the shape of an individual’s ear, which makes for better music playback. A high dynamic range amplifier helps improve both sound quality and battery life, and also powers a low-distortion speaker driver. Expect rich bass down to 20Hz and detailed mid- and high-frequency audio.
Apple doesn’t want you getting run over
I do wonder if the U1 chip will much easier to find lost AirPods just by pointing your iPhone toward where you last saw them in future.
How much will they cost?
Around $249. You may even be able to pick them up on Amazon using this affiliate link and then I’ll get a small bit of cash to help keep things running.
