6 videos: Look inside Apple’s new Macs, iPhones and Apple Watch
iFixIt, the global leader in tearing consumer electronics devices apart to see what’s inside, have now delved deep inside almost every new Apple product so you don’t have to. We’ve gathered the videos into one post here, including:
What teardown videos are available now?
iFixIt has torn the following products apart:
- M1 MacBooks
- Apple Watch Series 6
- iPhone 12
- iPhone 12 Pro
- iPhone 12 mini
- iPhone 12 Pro Max
We don’t yet have video to show what’s inside the all-new iPad Air, though presumably they will show at some point.
The new M1 MacBooks & Mac mini
“This fall we’ve seen what could end up being the most radical update to an Apple product in 10 years: meet the new Apple Silicon M1 MacBooks (and mac mini, but we’ll talk about that later). These machines have been out in the wild for a few days, and are proving to run insanely fast and extremely cool. Just how did Apple bend time and space to make a laptop that runs faster and cooler at the same time? Let’s take a peek inside to find out.”
iPhone 12 mini
“The iPhone 12 mini is a small phone with big ambitions. We’re surprised by how familiar the internals look compared to other iPhones this year, given the differences in size among them.”
iPhone 12
“Our early tests indicate both displays work interchangeably when swapped between the standard 12 and 12 Pro—even though the max brightness specs are ever-so-slightly different, as careful observers have pointed out. There’s a little more to the story here; we’ll see if we’re able to unearth more details later.”
iPhone 12 Pro
“It’s shaping up to be a 5G world, and Apple’s living in it. It seems like they made some serious compromises to make way for shiny new 5G components.”
iPhone 12 Pro Max
“Sorry to break it to you, but size does matter—at least when it comes to camera sensors. To achieve their alleged 87% improvement in low-light performance, the 12 Pro Max uses the biggest sensor in an iPhone yet.”
The Apple Watch Series 6
“They just keep polishing this thing to a higher and higher gloss and it’s almost sneaky how much of it they don’t tell you about, keeping all the focus on the whiz-bang health features.”
