7 iPhone 7 Rumors in Seven Days
Image gone sorry!
The silly season pre-announcement rumour-mill just ran seven important iPhone 7 claims in just seven days, here they are for your pleasure, subject to the warning that just because you read it on the Internet doesn’t make it true, so don’t take this too seriously as none of this is real until Apple gives us the facts. Meanwhile here’s what the Internet rumorists claim:
Sale Day
Following announcement apparently set for September 7, the iPhone 7 will go on sale on September 23 according to sketchy claims apparently coming from inside AT&T. The device will be made available for pre-order on September 9
Two models
There had been speculation of a third “iPhone 7 Pro” model but this has now been quashed by MacOtakara, which tells us just two models will appear, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Home isn’t just physical
Last week we learned that Apple plans to get rid of the physical Home button, replacing it with a taptic (pressure-sensitive) button. In conjunction with the removal of the headphone jack (see below) this could mean a lot more usable display space for apps. This has been rumored for some time.
More colors, no red
There’s all kinds of rumors when it comes to color, including claims of Space Black and Deep Blue devices, though these may be the same.
Faster charging
Just this week we learned the new iPhone may support “fast charging”, so you’ll get several hours of battery life in just a few minutes. (A propos of which a Weibo post earlier claimed capacity would increase from 1,715 milliampere hours (mAh) to 1,735mAh in the regular iPhone 7, and 2,750mAh to 2,810 mAh in the “Plus” model.

Big storage
We already expected the entry level device to host 32GB of storage, now this week the clamor claims a 256GB high end device, effectively giving the highest end iPhone more storage than you get in some Macs.
Smart connector
Some claimed images have shown what looks like a Smart Connector on the back of the device – why? Could it be?
What we already think we know
We already expect the new Apple smartphone to dump the headphone jack, run a speedy six-core A10-series chip. We expect an advanced dual camera system and we expect Lightning headphones and a second speaker. Faster LTE and Wi-Fi and improved battery life may also feature. Here are 12 more credible claims.
Tenth anniversary iPhone
Apple media coverage being Apple media coverage, the only story that beats the fable about the next iPhone is the story being told about the one after that, and here we hear that TSMC has once again slapped Samsung out the game with a deal to make the A11 chip that’s going to drive the company’s iPhone, iPad and other products in 2017. The tenth anniversary phone may also be an all glass device. The processor promises to be ultra-low-power, with integrated cooling systems while the iPhone 8 will (allegedly) also host an Apple-designed OLED display (or one model might). Though this rumor comes from Digitimes.
What are you expecting from iPhone 7?
Dear reader, this is just to let you know that as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
What surprises me is that there have been so many inconsistencies in the rumours, and also that the rumours has only been about very superficial things (what the backside of the iPhone 7 may look like, that it will have a 2 less camera but no information about what features the camera will provide, etc.).
Even though the iPhone 7 models must currently be in production for an introduction just 2 ½ weeks from now, Apple has managed to keep a very tight lid on leaks about the really important things in the iPhone 7 that we will learn about very soon. Things like performance of the A10 processor and new GPU, what features the new cameras will bring, and other technical advancements and improvements to the user experience.
With many supplier companies and their employees involved in producing the iPhone 7 models, it is amazing that Apple has been able to contain all of the important information from leaking out.

The first line should read: “What surprises me is that there have been so many inconsistencies in the rumors, and also that the rumors have only been about very superficial things”
Got it thank you! I may deploy a different comments system — any preferences?
