Apple offers iPhone purchasers in India free AirPods for Diwali
Apple is pushing hard in India.
Not only is that nation on the road to becoming a major manufacturing center, but Apple is pushing to get iPhones into more people’s hands there, celebrating the recent launch of an online retail store with a free AirPods offer.
Happy Diwali, have a set of AirPods on us
The deal is that iPhone 11 purchasers in India can pick up a free set of AirPods, while stocks last, local reports claim. (Though you need to purchase the device from Apple’s new online store).
If you are in India, don’t rush to the online store yet – the deal won’t go live until October 17, and I must confess we don’t know if iPhone 11 prices will remain the same by then, given the looming iPhone 12 launch.
Will the deal be extended to iPhone 12? No one outside Apple knows.
You’ll find the discreet mention of the deal at the top of the webpage.
What’s the cost?
The current pricing in India is
- iPhone 11 (64GB) ₹68,300.
- iPhone 11 (128GB)₹73,600 or 84,100 for 256GB.
- AirPods with charging case cost ₹14,900.

Apple has been deeply engaged in a project to get into India’s growing market for years. CEO Tim Cook has referred to this as a “thousand year” commitment, and it has seen the company get involved in deep negotiations with local government.
Apple and its supply chain have made equally deep investments in India, while the government there seems interested in providing support packages to convince tech firms to build business there.
