Microsoft gives Outlook for Mac some useful improvements
Microsoft continues to improve its Office across all Apple’s platforms, and has announced new features in Outlook on Mac, which will include built-in support for iCloud, Yahoo and IMAP accounts, making it easier to set them up, along with a range of useful task management tools.
Shared calendars, VIPs and more
Some of the improvements have been in preview since last summer with Microsoft admitting that around a third of its users are using them now.
Additional improvements include Shared Calendars and delegation.
But it’s the capacity to respond to events using the RSVP button from within the message list and to share emails to Teams from the inbox that will probably come in most useful to users, along with the ability to create meetings from within that space.
Something borrowed, too. Outlook on Mac now lets you assign Favorites in your contacts, which means emails from those people will be prioritized – one thing Apple Mail users have had for some time.
Enterprise improvements too
Search has also been improved. You can save searches into dynamic Smart Folders, which may make it a little easier to track project communications. Email becomes a little more secure with the addition of S/MIME, which lets you secure messages end-to-end.
“We’ve also added support for Microsoft Information Protection, to help you classify and protect your organization’s data. MIP policy labels can be configured in various ways to suit the needs of your organization,” the company said.
