Teamflow 2.0 devs are building a perfect hybrid work space

Be together, be yourself, the digital office space

If you run a business, or work in one, or are part of a team and want a way to make remote working a little more intimate, you may want to take a look at Teamflow 2.0, which creates a virtual working space you can access from Mac, iPhone, iPad or any other device.

All remote, asynchronous, autonomous — and present

The idea is that Teamflow provides a virtual workspace that embraces both on prem and remote workers in a way that enables something like intimacy and the chance for water cooler chat.

The app provides numerous features to support this new world of hybrid working. The mobile app acts as a kind of ‘pocket office’, while collaboration features are enhanced and the developers have tried to connect teams together.

It’s an appropriate moment for a solution such as this. Forrester in a recent report said that every organization will soon have a ‘virtual floor’ if they plan on retaining their workforce and staying competitive. To achieve this, companies can’t wait until everyone starts to wear AR spectacles, so they need solutions that work on the devices people use right now. Which sounds logical.

What it wants to do?

Teamflow has been working with some well-known customers, including Autodesk, Netflix and Shopify. Together these firms aim to find a way to better connect remote workers to corporate culture, and to identify tech that may help bridge that gap.

What’s new in Teamflow 2.0?

So, what do you get from Teamflow 2.0?

New additions include:

• An app for mobile devices.
• Design tweaks.
• Spatiality, which encourages people to hang out informally together.
• App integrations with Figma, Trello and Google Docs.
• Persistence so documents opened in a room will still be there the next time it’s visited.

The mobile support means you can login to the app from your iPhone and join the virtual office space, dragging our avatars to be near your colleagues and chatting with them using video or text. The idea here is that it becomes easier to engage in a work-related conversation when people are mentally ready for that chat and seen as ‘available’ by being in the space.

The app also introduces Private rooms that allow only those with the appropriate permissions to access. This allows for confidential chat, and should be seen as”like having a conference room in the real world that a team never has to clean out and can keep using until a project is completed,” the company said.

The design has also been tweaked and you get collaborative new features such as a shared browser that lets multiple people co-browse the web together, being present without being present.

Teamflow is an interesting approach that aims to straddle the difficult journey from presence-based to fully remote working.
