Apple Makes App Store Reviews Great Again
Apple has just answered one of the longest lasting developer demands for App Store improvement – enabling developers to respond to reviews of their software.
This is good news as it means developers can talk to customers who have problems with their app.
We don’t know too much about how this process will work, but I have heard so many developers complain that competitors have undermined the reviews system by placing negative reviews of their products. Which isn’t very fair.
There will also be a new way to review apps. This will be an API which means users won’t be switched over to the App Store app to leave reviews.
Developers will welcome these changes. They have waited for some time for them to be put in place, but I think they will be pleased they can now develop better customer relationships, respond to criticism, and create a two way dialog when problems are identified.
For software users this should also help dissolve the gap between you and the people making the software you use. That has to be a good thing.
Relationships matter, and this will be an excellent step forward to eradicating negative review scams.
