Apple Store goes offline as iPhone SE launch approaches
Apple has shuttered its Apple online store as it prepares to put its $399 iPhone SE up for sale.
An iPhone for the rest of us
The company’s new iPhone SE offers a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, Touch ID and a Home button and a current A13 Bionic processor, which means the device is no slouch.
You’ll find that Apple has personalized its customary store closed notice. You get a different message in New York than in London, or Berlin, for example.

Why it matters?
Apple is unlikely to see the kind of rapid sales trajectory it usually anticipates when it puts its device on sale today — this reflects the grim economic and social reality of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s still going to sell well. Analyst Ben Wood at CCS Insight says:
“The new iPhone SE has the potential to drive the next wave of adoption of Apple’s popular smartphone brand. Its aggressive pricing will challenge not only sales of new Android smartphones but is also likely to affect companies who refurbish and resell second-hand iPhones.”
