Apple confirms ‘Far Out’ September 7 launch
Apple has confirmed the speculation, inviting selected media to its September 7 event, where it is expected to introduce iPhone 14.
How Far Out are we gonna see?
The event announcement declares the slogan “Far Out”. It’s not clear what this might mean, given the expression encompasses both great ideas and extreme hallucination.
Maybe the underlying metaphor reflects news of a platform for both, though I’m willing to speculate Apple’s core news (potentially AR glasses of some kind) won’t be revealed till later next year.Which means we are on a journey of hint and suggestion.
When it comes to both, Apple did not disappoint.
The company has released an AR Easter egg for the event. As revealed by Apple SVP Worldwide Marketing, Greg Joswiak, the experience puts the ‘Far Out’ logo in wherever you happen to be, at least it does if you use an Apple AR device.
Here is what he said

Now, we don’t know what this means quite yet, speculation ranges between satellite phones and AR headsets, but we do know Apple tends to deliver product new s that make a difference in some way.
We all expect iPhone 14, a new Apple Watch, and potentially an upgraded edition of AirPods Pro, but might Apple plan to drop a little hint of something else it has been working on?
I don’t think it has to do so .. the invitation itself has set tongues wagging around its next generation adventures in AR, but I do think the company is raising the temperature a little, and it won’t dent the hype around its most important product unless it thinks it has a reason..
So that means it has a reason. Which means the Apple Rumor Machine is about to endure another busy few months.
