Apple confirms September 12 iPhone event
Dust off your credit cards. Apple is inviting us to its next big event on September 12 where it is likely to introduce new iPhones. A range of additional products, possibly including new Macs and iPad Pros may also show up while a new Apple Watch Series 4 seems likely, also.
Keeping it spicy
The invitation ask media to “Gather round” for the event, which takes place at 10am PT at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino.
If you can’t be at the event you will be able to watch it on PCs, Macs, iPads, Apple TV and iPhones, and using any modern web browser. There are rumors Apple may even use Twitter to make these announcements. Find out everything you need to watch the event here.
The invite image features a bronze circle – this could mean anything – a homage to the disappearing (?) Home button? A nod to the Steve Jobs theatre and Apple’s new HQ? Introduction of a snazzy but round new high-end metal Apple Watch design? All will become clear in just a couple of weeks, so send in the philosophers.
Apple has also decided to save all the journalists from themselves by making this the first launch event it will also stream on Twitter as well as its mobile apps.
Apple is also continuing to embrace media outlets beyond the tradtional frames, with a focus on up and coming vloggers.

What to expect
There seem to be oodles of products in Apple’s pipeline. As well as these below, new Macs, AirPower and a huge host of other new gadgets are being speculated about.
New iPhones with Face ID
Expect 5.8-inch, 6.5-inch and a 6.1-inch models. The first two models will be based around the iPhone X, with the latter expected to be a more traditional iPhone (dubbed “iPhone 9”) design. The high-end phones are (apparently) to be called “iPhone Xs” and to be available in a new gold colour. All will use Face ID and some will be cheaper than the current iteration. Significantly faster processors and possibly available in more colours, too. Some will be dual SIM phones in some territories. People no longer expect a new iPhone SE. More.
New iPad Pros
Equipped with Face ID, slim bezels for a larger screen and less bulk, significantly faster processors, more memory and an iPhone X-like user interface, Apple’s high-end mobile productivity devices should make waves. More here.

A new Apple Watch Series 4
A new design, slimmer bezels and further advances around connectivity, processor speed and battery life.
Updated operating systems
New iterations of Mojave, iOS 12, tvOS and watchOS. The pace of beta builds is certainly hastening at this time. You’ll also get to use the new Siri Shortcuts feature.
It feels reasonable to expect Apple to keep its Macs back for a few weeks, so as not to detract attention from the main event.
