Apple enterprise biz performance insights will appear Nov. 8
Many will look to Apple’s November 2 financial results announcement to check company health. But, when it comes to Apple’s progress in the enterprise November 8 may be the diary date. That’s when Apple in the enterprise MDM partner, Jamf, will announce its results.
The Jamf news will emerge November 8, 2023 at 3:30pm CT. Management will host a conference call to discuss business across the quarter, which ended September 30. A replay will be made available a few hours later.
What to look for in the results
Apple’s own results will be important to lend some insight into the first batch of iPhone 15 series sales. Apple has guided toward a relatively flat quarter, and already warned that Mac sales will decline statistically. (That doesn’t mean they’ve declined in reality. It’s a statistical hit endured as a result of Covid’s impact on the tech supply chains this time last year).
But Jamf isn’t exposed to product sales in a traditional sense. It makes its business supporting businesses that deploy Apple products. So there’s some reason to think that the enterprise Apple industry, at least in the US, has been more resilient than consumer sales.
With this in mind one of the big metrics will be how many customers the company holds and how many devices it manages. In Q2, those data stood at 73,500 customers and 31.3 million devices.
Any uptick in those numbers should translate into business wins for the company, and will provide some insight into the extent of Apple’s growth in the enterprise.
What Jamf expects
Jamf has previously guided toward 12-13% growth in Q3, estimated revenue from $139 million for non-GAAP income of around $10+ million. The vast majority (97%) of that income is expected to come from recurring sources.
The company has already seen big benefits from Apple’s move to Apple Silicon, not only did this give its business a boost, but it has recorded customer stories that demonstrate the advantage Apple brings to today’s enterprise.
Forrester, for example, realized around $843 in savings for each Windows PC it replaced with a Mac, and also saw a 5% productivity benefit and 20% increase in employee retention.
What to think about
We know the last thirteen weeks have seen some significant deployments of Apple kit, including Emirates beginning its move to deploy iPhones and iPads across its 20,000 staff.
We also see that employees entering the workforce are now more likely than ever to want to choose Apple at work, even as Windows command in the space continues to decline.
Bottom line?
Serious Apple watchers should make a date to monitor results from Jamf, and monitor the performance of others in the space such as Kandji, Mosyle, Addigy, Hexnode, as these will provide the deepest glimpse into how Apple is now transforming the enterprise.
