Apple (Mac?) Event ‘Unleashed’ announced October 18 10am PDT
Apple is inviting people to join the company for a special event on October 18 at 10am PDT and is widely expected it will introduce new Macs powered by its own M1X processors.
Apple calls the event Unleashed
The company has called the event ‘Unleashed’. Apple’s invitation states, “Please join us for a special Apple Event broadcasting from Apple Park.”
The event invitation features a phantasmagoric Apple logo design (above) and will be broadcast here.
Apple is expected to introduce perhaps two Macs:
An M1X-powered MacBook Pro and a similarly equipped Mac mini. Bloomberg previously claimed the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will ship this fall, possibly followed by updated Mac mini models. In August, Consomac noticed two new Mac filings on the EEC database.

These Macs are going to be fast, Apple’s VP Marketing Greg Joswiak hints in the Tweet above.
What should we expect?
We think we should expect the following:
- 2GHz chip with 16GB memory (up to 64GB supported) and up to 32 cores.
- 15-hour battery life.
- 1,080p FaceTime camera
- No TouchBar, SD reader, 3x USB-C, updated MagSafe port, amazing speakers, built-in mic for podcasting and HDMI.
- Possibly a move to mini LED displays.
- Adobe also said Photoshop on M1 chips runs 1.5x faster. The M1X will likely exceed this.
We are also expecting a new iteration of MagSafe, an HDMI port and SD card slot, and no Touch Bar. It’s possible the company will introduce AirPods 3 at the show.
The new Mac mini really ups the ante. The current M1 Mac mini (which has become my daily ride) is phenomenal. The new one gains even better performance, is thinner, and may offer dual additional ports.
Additional predictions have begun to emerge, such as this one from Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants.
Panel suppliers are the same between the iPad Pro's and MacBook Pro's – LG Display and Sharp. Expecting similar technology – oxide backplanes, miniLED backlights and 120Hz refresh rates. MiniLEDs, 100% confirmed.
