Apple Music Classical hits Android, but not yet iPad, Mac
Apple Music Classical is now available on Android, you’ll find it now on the Google Play Store.
If you use Android and also have a subscription to Apple Music or Apple One, you can download and use the app. It is quite interesting that the Android version is available even before versions appear for the Mac or iPad. That’s quite a curious thing.
What is Apple Music Classical?
Apple Music Classical is fantastic.
I really like the composer biographies and the many in-depth descriptions of thousands of works. I’ve spent the day exploring music by multiple orchestras, composers, recording companies and more and the experience has been highly fulfilling
It sort of doesn’t matter if you are a fan of the genre or if you are not, as what the service does really well is make the music easy to get to. It also offers a huge collection of 5 million tracks.
Like everything else in Apple Music, the service is curated by human editors, which means its playlists and recommendations are quite valuable. If you get into it, you will experience 192 kHz/24-bit lossless audio and spatial audio with Dolby Atmos.
More about the service
The company introduced the service in March 2023. It’s based on a service called Primephonic which Apple purchased in 2021 and eventually made available as Apple Music Classical.
If you use Android and are an Apple Music subscriber you should be able to download Classical right away, so long as your device runs Android 9 Pie and later.
Apple Music has also worked with some of the world’s greatest classical orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, Carnegie Hall, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Philharmonic, Opéra national de Paris, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, and the Vienna Philharmonic — to create new and exclusive recordings for the service.
Anyway. You got Android? You got Classical.
Enjoy.
