Apple opens big new office to support growing business in India
Apple’s burgeoning business continues to expand in new markets, with the company opening a huge new office in India even as profits increase an incredible 550% in Samsung’s home country, South Korea.
Big business in Bengaluru
Apple on Wednesday opened a new 1,200-person corporate office in the heart of Bengaluru, India. Spread across 15 floors, the office has everything we’ve come to expect from Apple, including labs, collaboration, wellness spaces and the Caffe Macs café. The company currently employs over 3,000 people across the country, with tens of thousands more working across its developer ecosystems and manufacturing partners.
The growing headcount reflects the company’s growing business, as it ramps up local manufacturing as well its own high street retail presence there. Apple also has corporate offices in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Gurugram, all of which run on renewable energy.
“Apple is thrilled to expand in India with our new office in the heart of Bengaluru. This dynamic city is already home to so many of our talented teams, including software engineering and hardware technologies, operations, customer support, and more,” said an Apple spokesperson.
The company has had a presence in India for 25-years, but really began focusing on the market a few years ago when CEO Tim Cook visited the nation and began intensifying the company’s presence there.
But this is Samsung country…
Apple’s efforts in new markets continue to bear fruit. On a global basis the company is now the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer, eclipsing Samsung.
That deepening competition is also visible on Samsung’s home turf in South Korea. Apple saw profits there increase 550% across its last financial year as consumers presumably segued to adopt its services and purchase its higher end products.
