Apple plans Pages, Numbers and Keynote update
Buried within the voluminous releases announcing the new iPad Pro, Magic Keyboard, MacBook Pro and Mac mini; Apple has confirmed plans to publish a significant update to Pages, Numbers and Keynote, the iWork suite.
Magic keyboard support, templates and more
One of the biggest improvements (at least for iPad Pro owners) will be the introduction of full support for the trackpad in the iWork apps.
Apple says these will make writing and editing text in Pages easier as well as improving the experience when working with multiple objects in Keynote.
Mac and iOS users will all benefit from additional enhancements, which include:
- New templates in Pages, Numbers and Keynote, giving users a head start on creating beautiful documents.
- It is now possible to add a drop cap to make a paragraph stand out with a large, decorative first letter.
- Collaboration will also become easier than ever with support for iCloud folder sharing and the ability to edit shared documents while offline.
We don’t know yet when the software updates are likely to ship. Pages on the Mac, for example, was last updated November 2019.
In related news, the company confirmed iOS 13.4 ships March 24. It also introduced new colors for its Watch straps, iPhone cases and iPad Folio cases.
Apple has also published a pair of videos to show how the new iPad Pro works, particularly with the new trackpad support. You can watch these movies here.
