Apple Watch 9 goes (RED) for global fight against HIV/AIDS
Apple is once again raising cash for the Global Fund against HIV/AIDS with a range of initiatives, including an all-red (PRODUCT) RED Apple Watch.
Buy stuff, save lives
When customers buy (PRODUCT)RED products, a portion of the proceeds go to the fund. For the past seventeen years, Apple’s support means its customers have helped raised over a quarter of a billion dollars toward the fund.
That cash has been spent on lifesaving antiretroviral treatment and HIV testing, and helping HIV-positive mothers prevent passing the virus on to their babies in sub-Saharan Africa.
This year, the company promises the following fund-raising shopping plans:
- You can now purchase an Apple Watch Series 9 (PRODUCT)RED. New Palette and Solar Analog watch faces will also be available in red, joining Metropolitan, World Time, Numerals Mono, Gradient, Stripes, and Typograph in a collection of specially customized watch faces celebrating World AIDS Day.
- Other PRODUCT (RED) products include the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 13, and iPhone SE, and accessories.
- Apple will donate $1 for every purchase made using Apple Pay on apple.com, through the Apple Store app, or at an Apple Store location until December 8. This is a global offer and relates to any Apple product or accessory, though donations are capped at a million dollars.
- Until December 4, the App Store will donate all proceeds from select, exclusive in-app purchases in MONOPOLY GO!, Gardenscapes, and EA Sports FC Mobile to the fund.
In the US, Apple is also using its services to help explain the challenge it is fighting with the fund with curated collections in Apple Books, Podcasts, and Music.
