Apple’s independent repair program to reach 200 new nations
Apple is preparing to expand its network of approved third-party repair services to an additional 200 countries with its Independent Repair Provider program.
What is the Independent Repair Provider program?
Launched in 2019 the program expanded into Europe and Canada in 2020.
It provides approved members of the scheme access to the same Apple parts, tools, repair manuals, and diagnostics as used at Apple.
That means when you take your iPhone to get repaired it won’t be fitted with some dodgy knocked off imitation component which fails ten seconds later, hopefully.
There are now more than 1,500 of these locations in the US, Canada, and Europe. Apple is about to expand this.
How is the Program expanding?
Apple is going to open the program up across 200 additional nations across the remainder of 2021. These are listed below the article. The first tranche includes over 30 nations who will be added to the supported list this week, with many more scheduled to launch later this year.
How to verify a repairer
To verify that a company participates in the program, visit support.apple.com/repair/verify-repair-provider.
The program complements the company’s existing global network of over 5,000 Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASPs) that provide repairs for any Apple device. Independent repair providers now have access to the same iPhone parts and tools as AASPs, and at the same cost.
How to join the scheme
There is no cost to join Apple’s Independent Repair Provider program. To qualify, repair providers need to commit to have an Apple-certified technician to perform the repairs.
The process for certification is simple and free of charge. Qualifying repair providers can purchase genuine Apple parts and tools at the same price as AASPs and receive free access to training, repair manuals, and diagnostics.

Launching the scheme in 2019, Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer said:
“When a repair is needed, a customer should have confidence the repair is done right. We believe the safest and most reliable repair is one handled by a trained technician using genuine parts that have been properly engineered and rigorously tested.”
