Car keys will host Apple AirTag tech from 2022, analyst says
CCS Insights is running a three-day future-focused analyst event looking at what it expexts to see happen in technology in 2022 and beyond. One thing the analysts predict is that in 2023 the company will team up with one or more car makers to put AirTag tech inside keys for cars from those firms.
CCS holds these events each year.
A glimpse at the future
Today was the initial event in the series which looked at how privacy and sustainability are emerging as key differentiators in consumer technology. Chief Analyst, Ben Wood, said: “The need to balance consumer privacy with our desire for always-on connectivity is coming to the fore. On top of this, consumers are increasingly demanding sustainable tech, and brands will need to make long-term green commitments.”
Some of this year’s Consumer Technology Predictions for Apple include:
- By 2024, Apple adds voice biometrics to its Health platform to detect a range of medical conditions.
- At least a third of iPhone sales in Western Europe in 2025 are refurbished devices.
- And Apple will put AirTag tech inside car keys from other firms.
- Gesture technology is added as a headline feature on the Apple Watch by 2022.
There are numerous predictions that may also have an impact on Apple:
- Support for 3G technology disappears from leading smartphones by 2025.
- A wave of smart glasses arrives from leading device makers in 2022 and 2023, but they spark a fresh consumer backlash against the technology.
- In 2024, 5G cellular connected laptops will account for 20 percent of PC sales.
- By mid-2023, Facebook’s family of users outnumber Christianity and Islam put together.
- By the end of 2022, at least five network operators in Europe offer free data on cellular-enabled smartwatches.
- Over the next decade, the adoption of smart home technology develops on two different planes.
Each and every one of these predictions feels more than possible, and each of these makes for a major change.
