Cisco brings Picture in Picture to Webex Meetings on iPad
Apple staff will be delighted to learn that Cisco has updated Webex Meetings with Picture in Picture functionality on iPad OS within the Webex Meetings app. It makes multitasking on your iPad while engaged in a meeting a great deal easier, as the meeting window remains visible.
What Cisco said
Cisco is a believer in Apple in the enterprise. “I don’t believe you can be a credible provider of enterprise software if you’re not part of the Apple ecosystem today,” Jeetu Patel, general manager and executive vice president, Cisco security and collaboration told me last year.
Apple and Cisco in 2015 first announced plans for “a partnership to create a fast lane for iOS business users, and Apple CEO Tim Cook has appeared to speak at a Cisco event.
Cisco works closely with Apple on Webex. “We worked hand and hand with Apple, and look forward to a continued partnership in the future,” Patel told me last year.
Apple, of course, famously uses Webex itself.
What Cisco has done
Announcing its news, Cisco writes on its Webex blog:
“We’re excited to support Picture in Picture functionality on iPadOS with the Webex Meetings iPad app for the first time. iPad users can now use Picture in Picture when participating in Webex meetings to be more productive during calls, and to follow along with the active speaker or shared content as they get work done, for example, respond to emails or manage calendar appointments side-by-side without missing a beat.
How it works
To get started, tap once on the Picture in Picture button and the video screen scales down to a corner of your iPad display. Then open a second app while the video continues to play. Instantly start multitasking or go back to viewing meetings full screen at any time during a meeting.
More news incoming.
It seems possible that Cisco has more news to share. It will host its annual Enterprise Connect 2022 event this year, which will be an in-person event.
