Eve’s HomeKit Secure Outdoor Cam hits retail
I was interested to learn from Eve Systems that its HomeKit Secure Video-compatible Eve Outdoor floodlight video camera system is now available in shops, as I think it should be popular.
Highly secure outdoor camera
The company calls this the first floodlight camera to be designed exclusively for HomeKit Secure Video. You’ll want this, of course, as use of the Apple HomeKit-approved product means video recordings will be kept safely by Apple and footage won’t be seen by anyone but you and who you choose to share it too.
Eve Outdoor Cam comes in an award-winning, robust meta enclosure and features an autonomous, dimmable motion light with an ultra-bright boost. Through end-to-end encryption of live and recorded video, HomeKit Secure Video keeps the user’s data secure at all times. Apple TV or HomePod take over the task of analyzing locally whether it’s a person, pet, vehicle, or package in the picture. With just a few taps the user chooses when they want to be notified and if they want to make recordings whenever something is up or only if there is specific activity.
“Video recorded on your private property shouldn’t be x-rayed in a cloud, not to mention exposed to some company database,” says Jerome Gackel, CEO, Eve Systems. “Thanks to HomeKit Secure Video, Eve Outdoor Cam relies on your Home Hub’s on-device intelligence to deliver state-of-the-art security with maximum privacy – while bringing a stunning, all-in-one design.”
Already a winner
Eve Outdoor Cam has already won the renowned Red Dot and iF Design Awards, meeting the highest aesthetic standards.
The front of Eve Outdoor Cam’s IP55-rated aluminum housing carries an opaque white bezel behind which the LEDs of the dimmable floodlight operate, including brightness boost and infrared night vision illumination. Below sits the full-HD camera with its wide-angle field of view of 157°, the infrared motion sensor with a 9 m / 26 ft range, and a detection angle of 100° as well as a microphone and speaker. Eve Outdoor Cam is best installeda as a replacement for an existing outdoor light.
The camera offers a system called Motion Light.
This works autonomously on the device and alerts your system to any movement, even if HomeKit Secure Video notifications or recordings are only for specific originators. Thanks to the built-in ambient light sensor, Eve Outdoor Cam can be set to illuminate the field of view only when it’s dark.
Apple announced its HomeKit Secure Video system in 2019.
