How to lose people from your Photo Memories
Memories in Photos are great. I love to see some of the people, animals and places that have mattered so much to me over the years when the automated photo collections are present to me. Except sometimes I don’t want to be reminded. Starting in iOS 16, Apple has made it much easier to stop seeing people in your Memories you don’t need to see anymore.
How to lose people from your Photo Memories
Memories are in general pretty smart. Apple’s systems collect together images by place, date, people, location and more, giving you a nice way to continue to enjoy and explore all the images you’ve taken using your iPhone.
But when you don’t want to see a person appear in those memory collections any more you can do so by following these steps:
- When a Memory collection appears and you explore it in your usual way, and an image of someone you want to see less, just do this:
- In the image tap the three-dots at the top right corner.
- You’ll be presented with a variety of options, including Copy, Hide, and others.
- At the bottom of that list in red you’ll see either Feature This Person Less or Feature A Person Less, depending on how many faces are visible in the photo.
- Tap one of these and you’ll see fewer images of that person show up in your collections, though you may need to select the relevant person in an extra step if you have multiple faces in the frame.
TLDR: Open a photo with someone you want to forget, tap the three dots and choose Feature This Person Less.
