How to switch on snow and rain fall alerts on iPhone
Apple has made weather notifications on iOS 15 much more useful since it began to integrate technology it acquired with the purchase of what is still the best weather app on iPhone, Dark Sky. The great thing is that you can now get your smartphone to warn you when it is about to snow or rain.
How to activate Weather alerts
Once you’ve upgraded to iOS 15 you can activate weather alerts via Settings and your iPhone’s (improving) Weather app.
- Open Settings>Privacy>Location Services.
- In Location Services, tap Weather and then set the location setting to Always.
- NB: If you feel uncomfortable giving any app Always status access to your location data then you can’t make this feature work. And I think it’s fine to feel that way.
- You can make the results more accurate by enabling the Precise Location option.
Once you have made those changes you must exit Settings and open the Weather app.

- Tap the menu (three dots/three lines) icon and you’ll be presented with a function called ‘Stay Dry’. This is where the magic happens…
- Tap Turn on Notifications and you will be shown a message letting you know, “Weather will send you a notification when rain or snow is starting or stopping.”
- Now switch on My Location using the toggle.
From now on you’ll receive a notification whenever rain or snow are about to fall.
