How to turn off the Apple Watch auto-launch remote function
I am becoming increasingly reliant on my Apple Watch. I use it to pay for stuff, track exercise, handle message and calls and more – it’s fair to say I’m an evangelist for what it does, except for one thing:
Auto-launch remote
The frustration is that when I am playing music or watching video on my iPhone my Apple Watch tries to help me by automatically showing me its remote-control function when I raise my wrist – even when I don’t want to see it.
It’s infuriating when I just want to access my watch to do something else.
How do I stop this? It’s pretty simple.
How to turn off the Apple Watch auto-launch remote function
- Open Settings on your Apple Watch.
- Open General.
- Open Wake Screen.
- Toggle the Auto-Launch Audio Apps to off.
In future when you play music or video on your iPhone and try to use your watch you won’t automatically be directed to the remote-control function.
So, how do you quickly and easily access that function once you’ve disabled auto-launch? I reckon the easiest way to access it is to press the Digital Crown and ask Siri: “Open Remote”.
Hope this helps.
