IFA: Eve Systems brings new products and praises Matter
One of my favorite accessory companies, Eve Systems today introduced an AirPlay 2-compatible audio streaming device that works with existing audio systems and a thermostat to maintain temperature.
Getting smarter at home with Eve Play
Both devices are of course compatible with HomeKit, but they are also compatible with Matter, which means they should work in conjunction with all the devices in most smart homes, including Apple tech houses.
Eve Play is interesting. It will convert digital sounds from services such as Apple Music to analog audio to push out through your existing stereo system, Hi-Fi, active speakers, or sound bars. Eve promises an audiophile grade sound experience when playing your music. The product ships November 14.
It’s a small, $150, box with RCA connectors, optical digital and coaxial digital outputs and an Ethernet port. The system is compatible with both 2.4Ghz and 5GHz Wi-Fi.
Better thermostats
Eve Thermo Control is a wireless temperature sensor and controller that works alongside the Eve Thermo smart radiator valve. Together, the system senses the temperature of the room and shares it with the valve to improve your temperature control. Available in Europe the control costs 80 Euros and is also available November 14.
Both new products were introduced at European trade show, IFA Berlin. The company was recently acquired by ABB and the now combined companies showed how their solutions can bring smart homes together using Matter.
Lucy Han, Head of Global Product Group Building and Home Automation Solutions at ABB and Managing Director of Eve said:
“This news underscores the tremendous potential of Matter as an extension of the range of connectivity offered by ABB-free@home. Ultimately, only a universal standard, supported by all major platforms, can enable the secure, future-proof and open interconnection of previously separate worlds. It will deliver smart homes supported by a diverse range of devices and technology that operate in full harmony.”
Lastly, Eve is releasing a free firmware update for Eve MotionBlinds that adds Matter support and a new Adaptive Shading feature to enable even easier and more efficient smart shading.
