iOS grabs an Uber to Dynamic Island & Live Activities
Uber is grabbing hold of two recent iOS innovations in its new app, which will introduce support for Dynamic Island and Live Activities.
Taking an Uber to Dynamic Island
What this means in practise is that if you own an iPhone 14 Pro or later that supports Dynamic Island you’ll see a little icon situated around the camera punch at the top of the display telling you when your Uber is expected to arrive.
On other iPhones you’ll see a Live Activities notification on your display to provide you with information such as the car, driver name, vehicle registration number and estimated pickup time. This will also support data from Uber Eat.
The new Uber app is being made available worldwide as of now, across the 1,200 cities the company now does business in.
More usability updates
There are several other improvements to the app, which is used by millions each day.
Take a look at the apps home screen to find a new Services tab through which you’ll find everything the company offers where you live, such as food, scooters and more. (Subsequent reports suggest the Uber Eats integration may not be available just yet). You may also find it easier to find previous orders via the new Activity hub.
Uber is also getting into the infotainment space with a section called Ways to plan and save, which generates recommendations based on what you’ve e done before. Personalization has also been improved in the app.
