iPhone 13 demand higher than for iPhone 12 — survey
The latest SellCell survey suggests Apple’s record-setting iPhone 12 sales may continue when the company ships iPhone 13, with an almost 3% increase in purchase intent for newer iPhone models compared to last year.
SellCells strong iPhone outlook
43.7% of iPhone users plan to switch to iPhone 13, up 2.7% compared to iPhone 12 purchase intent revealed in a similar survey last year, SellCell states.
The survey revealed a few more hopes and expectations among the Apple congregation. The most exciting (rumored) iPhone 13 features include a higher refresh rate display, under-display Touch ID, always-on display, and smaller notch with 22%, 18.2%, 16%, 10.9%, interest respectively.
Such features as a portless design (0.8%), faster WiFi 6E (1.1%) and reverse wireless charging (1.5%) don’t rate so high – though I’d accept that WiFi 6 is far from ubiquitous as yet.
12+ Apple iPhone 13 rumors to talk about this summer
Which model will be popular?
When it comes to the models of iPhone people seem to want right now, the standard 6.1-inch iPhone 13 is the model of choice for 38.2% of potential buyers, followed by the 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max (30.8%), the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro (24%), and the 5.4-inch iPhone 13 Mini (7%).
Of course, we know that with iPhone 12 one of the most popular models once the device was introduced proved to be the iPhone 12 Pro Max. It will be interesting to see if this is repeated. The survey says the iPhone 13 Pro Max is the second most popular likely configuration at 30.8% with the iPhone 13 at c. 38%.
What about the accessories?
What about Apple’s bevy of connected accessories? Well, the survey says 27.3% of iPhone users want to get an Apple Watch Series 7, while just 12.9% are interested in the AirPods 3. This perhaps reflects that they’ve already popped down their dollars on AirPods Pro, given the number of these I see around.
