Jamf ships safe internet solution for students and kids
Jamf in April announced its internet safety solution for educators, Jamf Safe Internet. The product, which works with the company’s mobile device management solution for education, Jamf School, is available worldwide as of today.
What is Jamf Safe Internet?
What Jamf Safe Internet does is protect pupils and students using the company’s tried and tested content-filtering and network-threat-prevention engine. The focus of the product is to protect kids against harmful online content. The solution lets admins enforce acceptable-use policies without sacrificing the capabilities of the Apple device.
This is an Apple-first, education-focused solution built to protect student privacy by applying prevention over inspection principles. It uses the same filtering and network threat prevention technologies the company currently provides to its enterprise customers. Jamf tells us that 2020 saw the number of connected devices used in K12 education increase 70% worldwide, which is why the solution matters.

“With technology now firmly embedded in the student experience, there is a growing need for digital safety to eliminate cyberattacks and prevent students from accessing unsafe content,” said Suraj Mohandas, Senior Director of Education Strategy, Jamf.
How it works
Jamf Safe Internet allows teachers and IT admins to customize and create appropriate levels of content control. It’s controlled within the Jamf school admin console, and its integration with Jamf School makes deployment relatively painless.
Start with three pre-defined rule sets: safety, blocking and bandwidth restrictions.
- Get specific: choose from a wide set of block categories.
- Restrict high-bandwidth or nonproductive sites.
- Get granular: add and scope custom rules.
Jamf Safe Internet also integrates with Jamf Pro.
The company is committed to maintaining compliance with all applicable privacy regulations and has signed the Student Privacy Pledge, highlighting its commitment to protecting the information of students, parents and teachers in schools. Schools that use it qualify for E-rate funding since it helps them maintain CIPA compliance.
