Logitech ships iPad keyboard case with built-in trackpad
Logitech, the world’s oldest computer peripherals maker, is keeping step with Apple’s introduction of support for trackpads on iPads, with a new product of its own – an iPad case that include (drum roll) a trackpad and a keyboard.
The Logitech Combo Touch…
The full name of the product is pretty long. It’s called the Logitech Combo Touch Keyboard Case with Trackpad for iPad and it is being listed on the Apple store (though I guess Amazon – who I have an affiliate connection with – may sell it eventually).
Logitech’s site explains:
“Combo Touch combines a precision trackpad with a full-size backlit keyboard for your iPad. Navigate iPad with familiar gestures and easily edit spreadsheets, documents and more. Plus, a flexible design supports four use modes for extra versatility.”
The product is listed as being compatible with the 7th gen iPad, 3rd gen iPad Air, and 10.5-inch iPad Pro, which I guess confirms trackpad support is being introduced across Apple’s tablet range.
You can use the case in typing, sketch, stand and reading modes, with 40-degres of tilt. Power and data traverse the Smart Connector.
The case offers a full row of iOS shortcut keys (Home, brightness, volume and so on).
You can also detach the keyboard element so you can mooch about on the sofa without the extra weight, or whatever. There’s also an app that lets you fine-tune keyboard lighting and install firmware updates.
It costs $149, for which you get a protective case, a trackpad and a keyboard equipped with backlit keys.
