Many Apple fans already trading in iPhone 12’s for new model
Almost on-in-five people trading in their iPhone to make money to acquire an iPhone 13 are handing over iPhone 12 devices, a report from SellCell claims.
Sell while prices are high
The data seems interesting. It looks like owners of he iPhone 11 and iPhone XR are getting ready to upgrade their devices, accounting for 18% and 14% of all the Apple devices being traded in right now.
But what’s really interesting is the iPhone 12 Pro Max (14%) is being traded in more frequently than the iPhone 11 Pro Max (11%), with another 6% of trades seeing iPhone 12’s swapped across.
This reflects lots of things. On the one hand those in possession of an 11 or XR series device will be ready for an upgrade now. On the other these habits make it clear that Apple has a ready market of early adopters for its phones, and these hardcore iPhone fans want the latest model every year.
iPhone 12 Pro Max values got higher
The other revelation is that despite an initial drop in trade in value post launch, the iPhone 12 Pro Max actually recovered some of its lost value.
That means its trade-in price started increasing, which means those who sell the device now can make great money to out aside for an iPhone 13. Assuming they have some other device to tide them over while they wait.
The company warns that prices are likely to fall after the new model is launched as demand will shift. That’s why selling the highest end current phone now will yield more cash until the launch takes place. Meanwhile, people are still asking if they should buy an iPhone 13 or wait for 14.
