Now Apple Music is putting live gigs on the Maps
Yet another improvement in Apple services as the company at last adds gig discovery to Apple Music and Maps.
Apple puts music on the Map
The idea here is that Maps and Music are linked up so you can find local live venues and find out about any local gigs that may be taking place.
In a little more detail.
- There are over 40 new Apple Music Guides, curated by Apple Music editors.
- The Guides are available in Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York City, and San Francisco in North America; Berlin, London, Paris, and Vienna in Europe; Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney in the Asia-Pacific region; and Mexico City in Latin America.
- Apple Music Guides are beginning to appear on Maps.
- Apple Music Guides also allow fans to browse venues’ upcoming shows directly from Maps.
That integration makes use of Shazam’s concert discovery module — part of a suite of features that Shazam introduced last spring. It uses info from Bandsintown.

Apple Pay accepted
There’s another integration within Apple Music, where a brand-new Set Lists will showcase selected major tours.
This feature lets people listen to set lists and read about the productions. Music fans can also browse artists’ upcoming shows in their area by launching Shazam’s concert discovery module. One more thing, Apple is linking to external ticket providers for ticket purchases, rather than selling directly – though presumably most providers let you pay using Apple Pay.
