Now you can watch Mickey Mouse fight Buzz Lightyear
Apple Arcade is publishing an official Disney-related game in which some of the world’s favorite characters from the animator roll up their sleeves to have a fight.
Disney Melee Mania
The game, “Disney Melee Mania”, will be available in December exclusively on Apple Arcade, along with over 200 other games. (Editor’s Note, in April 2021, the service offered over 180 titles, so the catalog continues to grow).
This title has been produced by Mighty Bear Games, whose CEO, Simon Davis said in an Apple press release:
“We’re thrilled to work with Disney to bring these beloved characters to the first-ever Disney and Pixar battle arena game… Fans will compete with arcade-style Disney and Pixar champions in a fun and frenzied all-out brawl to survive the chaotic melee and stay in the spotlight.”
What is the gameplay?
The idea is that players join teams of up to three people featuring iconic and fan-favorite Disney and Pixar characters and then fight each other in a virtual arena.
Players can select between 12 champions from several Disney and Pixar classics, with more characters added regularly. Characters include Mickey Mouse and Buzz Lightyear, with players choosing their own avatar to use in battle.
Each champion has their own look and their own unique moves and unlockable features. The game is played in 5-minute rounds in which players aim to score the most points or to defeat the other team as many times as they can.
The press release promises fast-paced battle action.
More games are coming. Online social, action-adventure “LEGO Star Wars: Castaways,” launches Friday, November 19, Apple said. Apple Arcade costs $4.99 (US) per month, and is available in Apple One bundles.
