Pampers just announced an iPhone app for baby diapers
I’m not sure how I feel now Pampers and Logitech have conspired to put sensors inside baby diapers with the new Lumi range of connected babywear.
Connected childcare
The system includes two activity sensors for the diapers, a Logitech camera-cum-Wi-Fi baby monitor and an app that gets the video feed and lets you know when, erm, ‘activity’ takes place in those diapers.
The idea is that the diapers will tell you when they get wet and the kid needs changing, but will also gather other useful information, such as sleep quality.
The camera – a version of Logitech’s Circle 2 security camera – offers 1,080p video and measures temperature and humidity in the room.

Together, the system may help parents track your baby’s feeding, diapering, sleep routines and key milestones.
Security matters: It is important to note that this is a Wi-Fi connected camera, and that if you want to store your video archives online you’ll have all the usual cloud-related security problems.
Hopefully these things will get Made for HomeKit status soon…
The smart diapers ship in fall. I guess that means lots of parents reading this may have no choice but to purchase some non-smart diapers for their kids, which you can do here (it’s an affiliate link).
