Pictures: iPhone 12 mini and Pro Max See second wave iMania
While buried by reports concerning Apple Silicon Macs and problems installing macOS Big Sur, Apple’s largest and smallest 12 series iPhones appear to have raised a second wave of iMania, with small store queues but steady sales reports coming in worldwide.
The iPhone 12 mini and Pro Max
In case you’ve forgotten about these new to market products in the busy global news cycle of the last few weeks, in which every day looks different and no one quite knows what is going on, the second wave of Apple’s new 5G iPhones hit retail today.
The iPhone 12 mini is just like the iPhone 12 but smaller, while the Pro Max is just like the 12 Pro but slightly (though hardly) bigger with a camera that’s as happy capturing 4K movies as it is making calls.
In fact, it’s a beast – quite possibly the best smartphone camera in the world, judging by DXOMark’s review of the 12 Pro. (The latter’s criticisms of the 12 Pro camera are all met in the 12 Pro Max).
So, what’s happening on the streets?
A quick glance at Twitter told me that lots of customers are having difficulty getting hold of one, that where they are available people aren’t queuing quite as often, but lots and lots of people have ended up with one on pre-order.
Having said that, it seems fair to say the release lacks the allure and hype of the first batch of iPhones. Apple has tried to fix this with a photo gallery taken from launches around the world, which I’ve bought to you here.
Who they are for?
I think the iPhone 12 mini will reach deep into a huge market of people who want a smaller iPhone, while the Pro Max? You just know there’s people out there who want to carry the best camera they can.
What scale are we looking at?
Well, I was in contact with case manufacturer Totallee earlier today, and they told me their range of iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max cases are shipping “at super speed” from their website.
Now, we can’t be sure what that means, but that’s as good as a prognosis as we’ve got.
Now enjoy the image gallery!
