Rumor claims: ‘Return of the iPad Mini’
Rumor: Apple plans to introduce a new low cost iPad mini and two entry-level iPads in 2019, and I couldn’t be happier.
The iPad you always have with you
iPad mini is the iPad you always have with you. It fits inside a large pocket or bag, is lightweight enough for most situations, and delivers all the display space you need for casual gaming, reading, email and simple productivity tasks.
Everyone who owns one seems to like them, and while I understand why Apple wants to push people to the more profitable models, in the current economic/social climate I don’t think we’re in that kind of Kansas anymore, so connecting people to the Apple ecosystem is critical.
This means the company must find ways to expand its market – iPad mini is a great response.

Caution: Rumor
There are problems with this kind of speculation. We saw similar stories emerge last year, but these were never realised. Apple may change its plans at any moment. And hasn’t updated the mini since September 2015 – but the report claims the device could appear early next year.
We don’t know if it will be pro.
We also hear new entry-level iPads are planned. That seems inevitable as the company inexorably raises the processor power of these devices on an annual basis, putting its products head and shoulders ahead of competitors in any price point the company chooses to play in.
