Teradici unleashes remote access for Mac using video pros
During a busy few weeks for Apple-related news you may have missed that iPads can now handle RAW image files in Photoshop and other hot news for digital creatives. This includes news from Teradici, which now offers Mac users in the video and broadcast industries high-performance remote access to their broadcast systems.
Remote access for video creatives
Teradici already provides high-quality remote Mac access that’s sufficiently robust to support computationally intensive workloads in a range of systems. When it announced this I spoke with Ziad Lammam, Teradici’s vice president of product. This release is arguably more essential to pro users in the video and broadcast markets.
The idea is that if you need even more horsepower than the MacBook Pro you probably use in the field provides, you can get online and access remote workstations and high-performance editorial systems from where you are. This is of particular use to creatives in the broadcast industry who may need to work closely with studio-based teams in time-critical situations, or when working remotely.
High-performance workflows
Teradici CAS is designed so broadcasting professionals can securely access high-performance workflows, such as content creation, graphics or newsroom applications from anywhere, on any operating system. Teradici PCoIP remote display protocol helps achieve this by transferring only what’s required, leaving corporate assets secure.
“Creators can securely collaborate on video files with the same quality and responsiveness they’re used to in-studio,” says Ziad Lammam, Global Head of Teradici Product Management, HP (which now owns Teradici).
The company introduced its new product at Adobe MAX, confirming the solution works with Premiere Pro and After Effects.
As previously reported, Teradici recently announced Teradici CAS support for the Mac running in on-premises data center and cloud environments. These remotely accessed Macs will be bolstered with Apple Silicon systems in summer 2022.
More information
Teradici has built its own PCoIP Ultra AV-Lock technology to support high-quality video playback, synchronizing audio and video channels and smoothing frame playback on the client, even over difficult high-latency WAN networks. This improves lip sync and reduces video frame drops for video playback, allowing news teams, field productions or other remote contributors to work efficiently.
Support for multi-channel audio, PCoIP Ultra Auto-Offload, AV-Lock,collaboration and Wacom deviceswill be available next month for the Mac with the Teradici CAS 2021.10 release. Support for PCoIP Ultra Auto-Offload, AV Lock and Wacom devices for Windows and Linux is also available. Multi-channel audio and collaboration for additional operating systems will be available in future releases – all told this is a significant boost for video professionals in the field.
