Video: Watch an iPhone 7 go into Space (and Fall Down Again)
Quite fun little story.
In an attempt to create a decent story and attract attention (it worked), Urban Armor Gear sent an iPhone 7 into space and filmed its journey in 360-degree video.
They stuck the smartphone into their toughest case, attached it to a weather balloon and sent it on its journey. It reached 120,027 feet above the earth, providing dramatic 360-degree views from space. Then it free fell down to Earth, with a parachute to break its final fall. And the iPhone was in perfect condition on its arrival.
During the flight the following data was captured:
- Max Altitude: 120,027′
- Temperature at altitude: -17º C
- Distance covered: 14.8 miles
