Watch Steve Wozniak speak on Apple, UI design, enterprise IT and ‘freedom’
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak recently spoke with India tech industry leaders at the ET Innovation Awards.
Here’s some of the best bits of what he said:
Put humans at the center
“I feel products that succeed the best are ones that feel more like a human, something I want to use as a human, that has a human way in which it addresses me so that I get involved in its user interface.”
Tech or human?
“The key question to ask is, which is more important? The tech or the human? I think good people always say human is more important than technology. What that means is, we should put an effort on the tech we create to allow a human to work in standard human ways.”
If Woz and Jobs started a new venture today?
“I think we’d be thinking in terms of making something useful for people, while also making it less expensive than before.”
Woz begins speaking around 1:31:45
What innovation is needed for SME’s?
“For SMEs to switch to a whole new method is difficult. It has got to have huge benefits and a very low cost, at least at first.”
On regulation
“Regulation should stop firms from taking our choices way, not make it harder to do business.”
On work
“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
On the internet
“Government now uses internet as a way to control us, and I didn’t think it would be that.”
On ownership
“Do you own the things you buy?” he also said, railing against subscriptions.
