“We are all in” on India, Apple’s Tim Cook tells media
More news from India where Apple opened its first retail store in Mumbai this morning.
Apple CEO, Tim Cook is doing the media round today, pushing home the company message on his trip to the land of Gatasimha.
What have we learned? I’ve been monitoring all channels today and have selected a few of Cook’s more useful quotes.
“We are all in”
“What we wanted to do in India was bring the best of Apple to India. We have brought different functions within Apple here. We view India as great from a number of points of view. I think the skill here is our very unique, the vibrancy of the people and the culture, the dynamism of the market, the feeling that anything is possible.
“All of these things bode well for India’s future, and we want to be a part of it. We want to be a part of it for all of ourselves, mot not just a part of it, from a marketing point of view. I can’t stress enough. We are all in… India over time will be one of Apple’s largest markets… the scale will be enormous.” BusinessLine.
Great meeting Coach Gopichand and badminton champions Saina Nehwal, Srikanth Kidambi, Chirag Shetty, and Parupalli Kashyap, who have played a part in putting badminton on the map for India. We served, smashed, and talked about how Apple Watch helps them train! 🏸⌚️ pic.twitter.com/C9dghWK6XO

India is at a tipping point
“India is at a tipping point. You can just feel the vibrancy, the dynamism, the feeling that anything here is possible. And it’s so great to be a part of it. It feels so great to be back.” Economic Times
We use AI across all our products
“I am very bullish on AI. In fact, it is at the root of so many of our products today. Like the Apple Watch, if you run an ECG you’re using artificial intelligence and machine learning. If you fall and the Watch calls your contact, it’s using AI. We use AI across all of our products. I think it is a very profound technology.” Business Today.
Unique talents
“We have an extraordinary developer community here. We have musicians. It’s great to interface with the artist and the creators here. So, there’s a huge Apple community in India.”

Vibrant developer community
I really enjoyed seeing the many ways that Kiddopia is helping preschoolers learn! And Sandeep Ranade from Naadsadhana gave such a moving performance of the song Mile Sur Mera Tumhara. The vibrant developer community here in India is making such an impact on the world! pic.twitter.com/ja7wDrN92t

A major focus for Apple
Speaking during the last fiscal call, Apple CEO Tim Cook said:
“Looking at the business in India we set a new revenue record and grew double digits.
so, we feel very good about how we performed. And that was best despite the headwinds that we’ve talked about.
“Taking a step back, India is a hugely exciting market for us and is a major focus. We brought the online store there in 2020. We will soon bring Apple retail there. So, we’re putting a lot of emphasis on the market. There’s been a lot done from the financing options and trade-ins to make products more affordable and give people more options to buy.
“And so, there’s a lot going on there.
“We’re in essence taking what we learned in China years ago and how we scaled China and bringing that to bear.”
