Wow! Adobe Premiere Pro unleashes 80% boost on M1 Macs
Adobe has at last introduced Premiere Pro for M1 Macs, unleashing an astonishing 80% performance boost in comparison to Intel-based Macs. The company also unleashed a range of updates for other Creative Cloud apps.
Mad performance boost
From first launch to final exports, everything is faster — on average 77 percent faster than comparable Intel-based systems, the company said.
This is just the latest in a string of hugely impressive updates to Creative Suite, all of which truly display the advantages of Apple’s M1 chips in terms of turning Macs into industry leading machines.
Adobe’s Photoshop for M1 chips unleashed systems 1.5 times faster. “Our internal tests show that Photoshop delivers significant performance gains across the application for customers using these latest Macs,” wrote Adobe’s Pam Clark at that time.
Speech to Text tools, too
According to a new Pfeiffer Report, using Speech to Text and the new Captions workflow in Premier Pro cuts the time needed to create a transcription and captions for a 5-minute video by 75 percent, saving an editor 52 minutes. With Speech to Text, Premiere Pro is the only NLE offering an integrated and automated workflow for creating transcripts and captions – included at no additional cost with a Premiere Pro or Creative Cloud all apps subscription.
Additional updates published today include:
- Adobe Fresco: Edit non-destructively with Adjustment Layers, perfectly place items with Graph Grids and the Precision panel, expanded preferences with custom Settings Panel, and masking support in iPad and Windows. Also new in Windows: in-app discoverable brush libraries by Kyle T. Webster.
- Adobe Substance 3D Collection & Mixamo: Introducing a new Blender Plug-Ins for Substance 3D and Mixamo Auto-Control Rig for richer 3D and AR content creation – streamlining workflows for 3D artists across 3D artists across gaming, VFX, animation, product design and more.
- After Effects: New Multi-Frame Rendering features are now available in public Beta, including faster previews and renders, a reimagined render queue and more to make the workflow even faster.
- Additional Video Updates: Premiere Pro and Character Animator shipping with native support for M1-powered Macs, improved titling and caption styling tools in Essential Graphics Panel, upgrade Legacy Titles into Source Graphics, optimized Scene Edit Detection in Premiere Pro, Puppet Maker and Body Tracker in public Beta for Character Animator.
All these are useful enhancements, but the superb performance boost unlocked by M1 Macs has got to be the biggest temptation to any creative pro.
