‘You can’t hurry news. No. You’ll just have to wait’ – Siri
Apple has been expected to announce a special iPhone SE event for next week, but it’s now possible that launch has been delayed. We don’t know if that’s out of respect for the grim, dark moment we stand at. To keep us ticking over, Siri’s been given a new answer:
‘You can’t hurry news. No. You’ll just have to wait’
Ask Siri, “What is going to happen at the Apple event?” Siri will respond by saying, “You can’t hurry news. No. You’ll just have to wait.”
This comes as the Mac rumourmongers speculate that maybe the expected Apple event next week will be delayed. But you can’t hurry news, as Siri said. And perhaps its for the best to respect the situation we find ourselves in. There are, after all, greater concerns than what colors the iPhone SE 2022 will be available in.
There is some news to be had.
New operating systems betas
Apple has seeded new versions of all its operating systems to developers.
These are the fifth iterations of OS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4, tvOS 15.4, & watchOS 8.5. Developers can download and install these betas now, and public betas will no doubt follow in a few days as Apple kicks its software around to ensure there’s nothing too horrible in there.
As beta software it’s usually best not to install the new OS on a mission critical device.
We know that some of the improvements will include:
- For Macs and iPads, the big reveal will be Universal Control, the exciting feature that makes it dead easy to use up to three mixed iPads and Macs using a single keyboard and mouse. Macs also gain support for PS5 DualSense triggers, and a high-performance screen recording capability.
- For iOS, expect Face ID with mask support, new emojis and a new non-binary Siri voice for English American speakers. There are also changes to Emergency SOS, Apple Podcasts and iCloud Keychain. US Watch users gain the new non-binary Siri voice.
- For Apple TV you get support for captive Wi-Fi, which means you can use your iPhone or iPad to get onto hotel networks to watch something good. It also lets you flit between Up Next items, and a new volume button you can access from the video player. HomePods will now support Dutch.
And for now, for Apple news watchers, there’s Siri’s new statement: “You can’t hurry news. No. You’ll just have to wait”. Apple has clearly gone a little Supremes on us all.
